　　A British man who went on a wild spending spree after doctors said he only had a short time to live wants compensation because the diagnosis was wrong and he is now healthy—but broke. John Brandrick, 62, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer two years ago and told that he would probably die within a year. He quit his job, sold or gave away nearly all his possessions, stopped paying his mortgage and spent his savings dining out and going on holiday. Brandrick was left with little more than the black suit, white shirt and red tie that he had planned to be buried in when it emerged a year later that his suspected "tumor" was no more than a non-life threatening inflammation of the pancreas. "When they tell you you've got a limited time,you do enjoy life," Brandrick, from Cornwall in the west of England. told Sky television. "I'm really pleased that l've got a second chance in life... but if you haven't got no money after all this, which is my fault—I spent it all-they should pay something back." If he can't get compensation, he is considering selling his house or suing the hospital that diagnosed him. The hospital has said that while it sympathizes with Brandrick, a review of his case showed no different diagnosis would have been made.
　　从医生处知道自己时日无多之后，一名英国男子开始了疯狂挥霍；如今他要求得到赔偿，因为诊断是错误的，他又成了健康人——但却一文不名。两年前，62岁的约翰·布兰德里克被诊断出胰腺癌，同时获悉自己一年之内就可能会死去。于是他辞了工作，或卖或送地折腾掉了几乎全部财产，贷款也不还了，把积蓄都花在了下馆子和度假上。一年之后，布兰德里克发现自己的疑似“肿瘤”不过是一处不会危及生命的胰腺炎症，而此时他的全部家当几乎只剩下了他准备穿着入土的黑西装、白衬衫和红领带。“当他们告诉你你没多少活头了的时候，你当然会去享受生活，”来自英格兰西部康沃尔郡的布兰德里克对天空电视台说，“我很高兴自己有了再活一次的机会……可要是你已经被这些事情搞得两手空空——是我的错，我把钱都花光了——他们就应该做出补偿。”如果得不到赔偿的话，他就准备卖掉自己的房子，要不就去告那家误诊的医院。院方表示，他们很同情布兰德里克的遭遇，但对他病例的复核结果却表明医生当时只能下那样的诊断。
　　Remarks：当然要赔，而这位先生的损失还不只是财产那么简单——这一年他没被医生的诊断吓死，命已经是很大了。
